Flying Circus Hobbies opened in September 2007 and is a brother and sister venture. Richard is the store manager; he has 30 years of flying remote control planes. When talking to Richard, you can see in his eyes his love for this hobby. Richard began his love of flying with plane kits that contained wood and a plan on how to build the plan. He explained that most kits today are ARF (Almost-Ready-To-Fly) kits that just need very little to start flying the plane. In The kits he had when he was younger, you had a lot of assembly before you could fly your plane. You literally had to build the wings, body, and tail of the plane. Then you had to cover the frame with fabric so that it could fly. Richard said you had to install the engine and the remote controls so that you could control the plane once it was up in the air. It was a hobby that used many skills and a lot of time. The challenge that this hobby had then is what made it fun and satisfying. He has flown many different types of planes and shares his experiences with his customers. Flying Circus Hobbies also carries train sets, model cars, model airplanes (non-flying), rockets, and all sorts of accessories to go along with your hobby. The store is small but Richard says what he does not have in stock he can order. Orders are routinely in the store within two days after they are ordered. Richard says he welcomes special orders and is pleased to search for items that others can’t find. The stores two main suppliers of the airplanes are Great Planes and Horizon. Richard also carries the E-flite Blade Helicopters, MCX, CX2, Blade 400 and all parts for them.
The store is open 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday. On Saturday the store is open at 10:00am to 3:00pm. Come into the store and look around. You’ll really love this store. Don’t be surprised if your inner child jumps with excitement and screams to play with all of the merchandise. |
